Late Night with the Devil

2023 didn’t really feel like a great year for horror, but is this the year to turn that around? Late Night with the Devil could help right the course, but is it as good as the critics would have you believe? And really, how many production companies does it take to make a movie? So many questions, and hopefully we can answer some of them.

Enjoy!

Best of 2023

Look…we know that we are halfway through March already, but sometimes its takes us a little while to get to all the movies we wanted to see from a previous year. That said, we finally feel comfortable giving out our “Best of 2023” lists. Lots of crossover on our lists this year, and you would think that would make the episode considerably shorter, but you would be wrong.

Enjoy!

Blind Fury

This week we are finally getting around to one of our Patreon request movies, Blind Fury. We feel kind of bad that it took us this long to get to it, but now that we’ve seen it, we wonder where this movie has been our whole lives. Sorry, Zatoichi, but there is only room for one blind swordsman in our hearts.

Also the poster variations for this movie are bananas!!

Madame Web and Oscar Bowl Sunday XII

You may have heard rumblings on the internet that Madame Web is not worth your time. And while this movie isn’t very good, there is still a case to be made that it is worth watching, and some of us here at COtR are willing to plead that case. We don’t want you to think that all we do is talk about bad movies, so Roy is also here to give you his recap of “Oscar Bowl Sunday”. Basically, you get two episodes in one this week. What a treat!!

Enjoy!

Argyle

Well, our 400th episode is finally in the books, and it is time to start looking to the next hundred episodes. We are taking the pressure off all those movies by maybe watching the worst one first, Argyle. This movie is awful, and we don’t recommend that you watch it, but if you do, and you want to hear people make fun of it, then welcome to our show.

Rewind: 1989 (Our 400th episode!)

It is hard to believe that we have been doing this show in some form or another for almost 14 years. I know that there are a lot of podcasts out there, and I know that it is hard to carve out a little piece of the internet for this show to find an audience. I am more grateful than you know for all the people that listen, but also happy that this show exists as a place for me to get to stop what I am doing and just talk about movies with some of my favorite people. Even if know one ever listens to another episode, I will still go back and listen, because these guys genuinely make me laugh.

To celebrate 400 of these, we are doing one of our favorite type of show, a rewind to 1989. So sit back and enjoy some friendly bickering, as we go full nostalgia.

Enjoy!

American Fiction

This week, on our 399th episode, we are talking about American Fiction. Because we have so much prep to do for our 400th, we will get straight to the point, this movie is fantastic, and you should definitely watch it as soon as you can.

Enjoy!

Rebel Moon: Part One- Child of Fire

This we are discussing the latest movie from Zack Snyder, Rebel Moon. We are aware that the title is longer than that, but really who has that kind of time. Is it possible that this was secretly part of a documentary where Snyder pitches the plot of a well loved movie to Netflix just to see what would happen? We really hope so, that would at least be entertaining to watch.

Enjoy!

May December & Dream Scenario

Well, this was supposed to be the last episode of 2023, but instead this is how we are rolling into the new year. What better way to celebrate than a conversation, about two very odd, but well acted movies, May December and Dream Scenario. Just because the acting was solid doesn’t mean we thought each of these movies were great, but neither were a waste of time. We hope that you can say the same for this show.

Hallmark Christmas Special 2023

This is our fifth year of doing our Hallmark special, and apparently the gods who oversee podcasts didn’t want us to celebrate because they cursed our show and we lost one of our host shortly after we began. We didn’t lose him like he died or something, just some technical issues. Just know that Ryan really wanted to talk about Christmas in the Rockies, but now you will never know how it was. I

n case this is our last episode of 2023, we hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.

Enjoy!

The Fall of the House of Usher

This week we are discussing the latest series from Mike Flanagan, The Fall of the House of Usher. We also play a little catch up on some of the other things we’ve been watching lately. We apologize if we have missed some weeks lately, but the perfect storm of busy work schedules and sicknesses that won’t go away have made it a little bit difficult to record new shows. We promise to try and do better in the new year. Also, we haven’t forgotten about the several episodes that we still owe a few listeners out there. That is also something we hope to correct soon.

Enjoy!

The Marvels

Today is Sean’s birthday! To celebrate, here is our episode on The Marvels. This was the lowest opening movie in the MCU, yet most people seem to agree that it was actually pretty good. Are we “most people”? Well I guess you’ll have to listen to find out. And If you haven’t yet, wish Sean a happy 42!

Enjoy!

Flora & Son

This we are discussing the films of John Carney. Mostly his latest outing, Flora & Son, but also our quick ranking of his other offerings. Historically, Carney’s films have been well loved on COTR, so you’ll just have to listen to hear if this film is another feather in his cap, or just another straight to streaming movie.

Enjoy!

Totally Killer/The Creator/Gran Turismo

What a treat, this week you get an episode on three movies! We are hoping that since you get three movies, you won’t notice that the better half of the show hosts aren’t on this one. So here’s a little horror/comedy, a little science fiction, and a little video game underdog sports story. Surely there isn’t something for most people in here.

Enjoy!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 2 (part 1)

We thought it would take a little longer for Sean to get through the second season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but we were pleasantly mistaken. So this week we are talking about the first half of season 2, but don’t worry, you’ll get the second part in the next week or two. That should give you plenty of time to go to Hulu and watch them all.
