Longlegs

This week we are talking about Neon Studio’s new hit horror film, Longlegs. In general, horror fans seem to love this movie, but does that me that we did? I think you know, we rarely all agree with each other, and this movie is no different. So if you liked Longlegs, then you will agree with something we say, and if it wasn’t for you, we still have you covered. We aim to please at COTR.

Enjoy!

The Watchers

This week we are talking about the thoroughly mediocre horror film, The Watchers. We didn’t want you to go into this one not knowing if we liked it or not. While there are some okay parts, there are not enough to justify this being a feature length horror film. Just know going into this episode that we are going to be making fun of a lot of it.

Enjoy!

Totally Killer/The Creator/Gran Turismo

What a treat, this week you get an episode on three movies! We are hoping that since you get three movies, you won’t notice that the better half of the show hosts aren’t on this one. So here’s a little horror/comedy, a little science fiction, and a little video game underdog sports story. Surely there isn’t something for most people in here.

Enjoy!

Nope

This week we discuss the latest film from Jordan Peele, Nope. If you haven’t watched this movie yet, it is available to rent and buy digitally, and we all recommend that you watch it before listening to this episode. However, if you aren’t interested in watching Jordan Peele’s take on science fiction and creature features, then please feel free to just listen to us talk about it instead. The only thing scary about this show is how charming we are… at least that is what our mom’s say.

Enjoy!

The Innocents

For those of you who are tired of us only talking about Marvel movies, this week we give you our episode on the Norwegian horror film, The Innocents. We may not entirely agree on the film, but we do fine some common ground. We also place way more value on a scene involving a tortilla than the director probably intended, but that doesn’t mean that we are wrong.

Enjoy!

X

In the past, we have not really enjoyed the movie of Ti West, but with X we were cautiously optimistic. West has always had a great visual style, and can make movies feel like they are from other decades without needing to remind you all the time that it is a period piece. However, his previous outings have left us a little empty. In classic COtR form, we did not all agree about how X turned out.

Enjoy!

Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight

Another weird horror movie can only mean one thing, another episode from our cabin trip. This was actually the last movie we watched that weekend, which is why you may notice that we don’t all make it to the table. The excitement of the weekend made some of us fall asleep almost immediately after we started this gem from the 90’s. We also discover that most movies could be improved by simply adding a little more Billy Zane to the cast. It’s not that difficult.

Enjoy!

Chopping Mall

Killer robots, frisky 20somethings, …the mall. The 80’s really were a magical time to be alive. This absolute treasure was a blast to watch during our cabin weekend, and if this podcast can convince at least one person to watch it who may have never seen it, than all of this will have really been for something.

KILLER ROBOTS…IN THE MALL!

Enjoy!

Tales From the Hood

We just can’t quit talking about horror movies, though this one surprised us. We all seemed to remember what this movie was about, but it definitely hit harder for us this time around. I know the movie didn’t change, but we certainly have since this movie was released in the 90’s. Plenty to talk about before we take a break from horror for a minute. Before you know it we will be gearing for another Hallmark Christmas episode. Enjoy!

The Night House

Yeah, we know that October is over, and most podcasts are probably moving onto those very well know Thanksgiving movies, but we watched a lot of horror last month, and that means you get more horror episodes, and run on sentences. The Night House is the movie that brought Ryan back to the theaters after being closed for so long. Did it do justice to such a notable honor? Just listen and find out.

Enjoy!

Don't Breathe/Don't Breathe 2

Here is a nice double feature to keep our October movies going. Maybe they aren’t technically “horror”, but there are still plenty of jumps and scares, so we are adding it to the list. There are a lot of weird choices they make in this series, and we like some and hate others, as characters and their motivations seem to change a lot . We hope everyone has a great Halloween, and that you are watching only the best scary movies to stay in the mood.

Enjoy!

Fear Street Trilogy

I am not sure I will ever understand why Netflix decided to release the Fear Street trilogy in the middle of the summer instead of in October, but I am sure some algorithm told them it would be more successful that way. Whatever the reason, we decided to wait until the spookiest month before we released our episode on the three movies. If you’ve ever listened to this show before, you may know that Roy is very particular about the naming of sequels, and we barely get through the opening before he makes his feelings known. Guess you’ll have to listen to the rest to find out how we felt about the actual movies.

Enjoy!

Wishmaster

We have been doing research for our next Rewind episode, but sometimes there’s a movie that sets itself apart from the fray. In a year that gave us Titanic and Good Will Hunting it could have been easy to miss Wishmaster, but do yourself a favor and make 90 minutes in your life this gem.

In the Tall Grass

When I used to work in a video store, I remember that there would be full sections of one particular title, if it was a big enough movie. There was also a row full of single title films, and this is usually where your low budget horror films would end up. Netflix, as a way of replacing video stores, seems to be making both types of movies. I know that you might see that In the Tall Grass is a horror movie based on a Stephen King story, and think that this would have been the kind of movie that gets a whole section at the video store, but I promise you, this is a “single title” film all the way. I hope you like movies that only take place in a field.

Enjoy!

It: Chapter 2

After our last episode, we thought maybe we should go with a more “traditional” horror film. That said, It: Chapter 2 still wants to go toe-to-toe with Midsommar in total runtime…so you know…that’s cool. While this sequel to the smash hit from 2017 may not be as good as its predecessor, there are still plenty of good things to talk about…but damn, it is really long. And how did they do such a great job of casting some people…and really drop the ball with other choices?

Reel Scares - Sean McClain

Happy Friday the 13th! I hope that everyone is out there watching horror movies all night long. Please enjoy our latest special show. This time we listen to Sean McClain try and justify his weird choice for a #1 horror film. Is it possible that he has been possessed by some weird demon who wants to convince the world to watch really bad horror movies? I think we all know the answer.

Enjoy!
