Deadpool & Wolverine

Look…this movie is insanely popular, and will end up making more money than most of the movies in the MCU. That said, we have some differing opinions on Deadpool & Wolverine. We all went into this movie with varying degrees of excitement, and there were most certainly some concerns with how delicately they would address Logan, but we at least all agree it was better than Deadpool 2. So that’s something.

The Marvels

Today is Sean’s birthday! To celebrate, here is our episode on The Marvels. This was the lowest opening movie in the MCU, yet most people seem to agree that it was actually pretty good. Are we “most people”? Well I guess you’ll have to listen to find out. And If you haven’t yet, wish Sean a happy 42!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3

The time may finally be upon us where we are just getting a little too exhausted by all the comic book movies. Is it that it is all too much, or has the quality of the content just been getting worse and worse. Could be a little but of column A and a bit of column B. Still, that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to watch what comes out and record about it for you, our dear dear friends.

Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania

2022 was kind of a rough year for comic book movies with several of them showing up on our “Worst of" lists. Can this trend be turned around this year? If Marvels first film of the year, Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania, is any indication, then we still can’t answer this question. There are plenty of things to like in the MCU’s latest go, but just as many things seems to come up short. In that way it’s a lot like this podcast.

Blade

This week we let the fates decided what our movie night would be, and it turns out, the fates favored Roy. One of Roy’s leftover picks from the last cabin trip came back around, and that is how we ended up watching the 1998 “classic”, Blade. If you are wondering what we were laughing about at the start of the episode, please see the photo below.

Morbius

Many of us went into the viewing of Morbius with a pretty positive attitude, but when we found out that it wasn’t really “Morbin Time”, our attitudes quickly shifted. There is still a spectrum of opinions from us, but even the highest praises we could offer were still pretty pathetic. So maybe if the bar is impossibly low, you could have a really good time watching Morbius.

Jared Leto is garbage.

The Batman

The “World’s Greatest Detective” is at it again in Matt Reeves latest interpretation of the cowled crusader, The Batman. This movie has already proven to be one of the more successful films in the DC catalog, and it already finds itself on the IMDB Top 250 list, which is no small task. That being said, we managed to disagree about much of this ultra dark film, but don’t worry, it’s all in good fun.

The Suicide Squad

Right out of the gate, The Suicide Squad is so much better than Suicide Squad. That isn’t any kind of major accomplishment, but now you don’t have to wonder how the two compared. How much better is certainly up for debate in this week’s episode. So if you’ve watched the entry from DC, or if you have no interest, but still want to hear our thoughts, then this is the episode for you.

Black Widow

This week we were finally able to watch a new MCU movie…IN THE THEATER! We were also able to record this episode together, which also caused a few audio problems, so if it seemed a little echoey, that’s why. But we hoped that they joy we had sitting around a table together was enough to buy some good will, and we promise to work on the audio more in the future.

The New Mutants

This Thanksgiving we are thankful that we can are finally at the end of Fox’s run of The X-Men. We’ve had some good times along the way, and more than a few disappointments. But before the curtain drops on this franchise, one last film is finally seeing the light of day, The New Mutants. This may not be the movie we were promised, or the movie we hoped for, but it feels like a movie that could only come out in 2020. So sit back, relax, and enjoy our thoughts on the last X-Men movie to be released…by Fox…because Disney will surely release at least a dozen more.

Joker

This week we discuss the very divisive film, Joker. Certainly none of us share the same opinion, but we all found things that we enjoyed, and definitely some things that made our blood boil. Whether you liked, loved, or hated this film, I hope you can at least appreciate its ability to spark a conversation. Please let us know how you felt about this one!

The Boys

Look at us, really branching out and trying new things. Instead of just reviewing what feels like an endless amount of superhero movies, we’ve decided to review a television show…about superheroes. That’s as much change as I can handle all at once, so please be patient. This week we take a look at Amazon’s bleak take on Justice League/The Avengers with their original series, The Boys. Does it amount to more than just the gimmick of flipping the script on many beloved characters? Guess you’ll just have to listen to find out.

Shazam!

As we inch ever closer to comic book movie fatigue, we examine the latest (and greatest?) film in the DCEU, Shazam! Did DC finally figure out a way to top Marvel? As men who kind of act like we are still 13 years old, are we the target demographic? Did anyone else think that Zachary Levi looked really weird in that foam rubber costume? Please, let us know your thoughts! I am tired of hearing what these guys have to say.

Enjoy!
