In the Mood for Love

This week is another one of our Patreon listener request episodes. The movie in question, In the Mood for Love. A rare movie that none of us had seen before, but one that still managed to reach each of us. It was definitely a more serious film than we are used to discussing on here (we’ve done not one, but two Wishmaster films), but we think we rose to the occasion.

Enjoy!

Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies

Well…the first Wishmaster movie was an absolute delight, so the 2nd one has to at least be okay…right? I mean, right?! It has to at least be a vague shadow of the original? It can’t just be a terribly thrown together movie that barely looks like a SyFy original, right? That wouldn’t be too much to ask, right? Maybe we should have just wished for a better sequel. Nothing bad every happens from making a wish… …right?

Thor: Love and Thunder

The MCU machine continues to roll on, and so do our episodes about it. This week we discuss Thor: Love and Thunder. Was Taika able to catch lighting in bottle for the second time? Is this the MCU movie that finally makes us feel some “super hero fatigue”? This movie really sparks a lot of conversations, so let’s get into it.

Enjoy!

Jurassic World: Dominion

This week we discuss the diminishing returns in Jurassic World: Dominion. It is not a spoiler that this newer series of dino flicks still feels like a vague shadow of the original Jurassic Park, but can this latest outing manage to capture a little bit of the old magic by bringing back some of out original favorites, or was this just more pandering and fan service? Maybe a little bit of both? Maybe the producers and studio execs were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.

Enjoy!

Wishmaster (replay)

If this looks familiar, that’s because it is. Due to that damn covid, this week’s episode is just a replay of one of the funnier ones from last year. Hopefully we won’t have to recycle a show again for awhile, but you never know in this world. So sit back and listen to some of the best impressions you’ll ever hear.

Enjoy!

Morbius

Many of us went into the viewing of Morbius with a pretty positive attitude, but when we found out that it wasn’t really “Morbin Time”, our attitudes quickly shifted. There is still a spectrum of opinions from us, but even the highest praises we could offer were still pretty pathetic. So maybe if the bar is impossibly low, you could have a really good time watching Morbius.

Jared Leto is garbage.

Enjoy!

Top Gun: Maverick

Let’s just go ahead and get it out of the way, Top Gun: Maverick absolutely lives up to the hype, and should be seen on the biggest screen you can find. It turns out there is still a place for a big summer blockbuster that isn’t a comic book film, and this movie shows that people of all ages will still show up in droves for “event cinema”. This week we spend our time largely gushing over our favorite parts of this absolute thrill ride of a movie.

Enjoy!

The Innocents

For those of you who are tired of us only talking about Marvel movies, this week we give you our episode on the Norwegian horror film, The Innocents. We may not entirely agree on the film, but we do fine some common ground. We also place way more value on a scene involving a tortilla than the director probably intended, but that doesn’t mean that we are wrong.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Sonic the Hedgehog 2…I am not really sure what to say about this. The first one was one of the biggest surprises when it was released, but now that we now what to expect, could the sequel manage to capture the magic again? Certainly not to the extent that the first one did, but there are still plenty of things to like in Sonic’s second outing.

Enjoy!

Men

Well…we really try out best to break down the latest film from Alex Garland, Men. We would like to tell you that we understood everything that he was trying to say with this movie, but we undoubtedly missed something. Our opinions are a little all over the map, but we still managed to put together an okay episode, even if we did say the word “vagina” way more than usual.

Enjoy!

The Voices

This week we are watching a film requested by one of our Patreon subscribers. The selection they went with was the 2014 film, The Voices. Our opinions vary wildly, but we all agree that it was nice seeing Ryan Reynolds when he was still flexing his acting muscles, and not just acting like some version of Deadpool.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The multiverse is everywhere right now, and much of that popularity is thanks to the MCU. The latest trip in this mind bending direction is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This movie marks the return of Sam Raimi to the comic book craze that he helped to create twenty years ago. Does he still have what it takes to make something memorable in a genre that, some feel, is repetitive? Can Doctor Strange take on the new mantle as a leader of the MCU? Can we survive an episode without Ryan and Roy? Maybe you should listen to find out.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Happy Star Wars Day! To celebrate, we took a break from movie talk, and instead, we dedicated an entire episode to Star Wars: The Clone Wars. We also thought we bring in someone who could speak on this series with a little more authority, Dan Kaufman! That’s kind of a big deal, so please show your gratitude by telling all your friends about the show…maybe your friend’s friends…maybe tell them all to sign up for our Patreon. Just an idea.

Ambulance

Whatever your opinion may be of Michael Bay, he is at least very consistent in the types of movies he makes. Maybe his movies are not really your thing, which is perfectly fine, but when it comes to movies where shit blows up, he is an auteur. So please enjoy a couple of us talking about Bay’s 2 hour+ car chase extravaganza, Ambulance.

Enjoy!

X

In the past, we have not really enjoyed the movie of Ti West, but with X we were cautiously optimistic. West has always had a great visual style, and can make movies feel like they are from other decades without needing to remind you all the time that it is a period piece. However, his previous outings have left us a little empty. In classic COtR form, we did not all agree about how X turned out.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

Let’s just go ahead and remove any mystery here, we absolutely loved this movie. Everything Everywhere All at Once has been stuck with us since the moment we walked out of the theater, and we are just counting the seconds until we can see it again. If you haven’t seen it yet, please try and do so before you listen to our episode. If you are also someone who believes that movie theaters are nothing more than vessels for comic book movies to be released, please please please go support something that is original and wonderful.

Enjoy!

The Adam Project

While our opinions of The Adam Project might vary, we did all unite in our opposition to some of the worst de-aging effects ever. We talk about this a lot, but seriously, it is really terrible looking, and I know that we skipped right over some major plot points just so we could continue to bad mouth this one thing, but that’s just how terrible it was. Anyway, here’s our episode.

The Academy Awards 2022

This week is our recap episode of this year’s Academy Awards. Right out of the gate we discuss the infamous moment that has already become Oscar history, and overly memed. After that quick discussion, we actually talk about the goods and bads of the night. Believe it or not, lots of other things did happen and we want to tell you the real reasons the oscars were bad, not just relive that slap over and over. Like seriously, who thought it was a good idea to create fan voted categories? It’s the Oscars, not the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards.

Enjoy!

The Batman

The “World’s Greatest Detective” is at it again in Matt Reeves latest interpretation of the cowled crusader, The Batman. This movie has already proven to be one of the more successful films in the DC catalog, and it already finds itself on the IMDB Top 250 list, which is no small task. That being said, we managed to disagree about much of this ultra dark film, but don’t worry, it’s all in good fun.
