The Villain (1979)

Every week Roy asks people for suggestions, and we finally decided to watch one. We thought it would be a fun movie night to view The Villain together, after all, none of us knew anything about the story, or even what genre is belonged to. We were still confused as we were watching, and found ourselves asking “WHY?!” on more than on occasion.

Now if you want to make us watch your crazy choices, you have to sign up for our Patreon, but never again will we watch The Villain.

Enjoy!

Uncharted/Scream

This week we do a quick catch up on a couple of recent films to hit theaters. Both movies are dumb, but “dumb” is a pretty wide spectrum, and these two movies really show how different dumb movies can be. There is usually some petty disagreements on the show, it is kind of part of our charm, but this go round we were pretty much on the same page. It is very unusual and probably won’t happen again.

Marvel 2021

Marvel managed to release 4 movies and 5 television shows in 2021, and while were have done shows on a couple of the titles they released, we’ve decided to go ahead and dedicate a whole episode recapping just what all was added to the MCU last year. Yes, there were something things that we loved and some that we didn’t, but even the worst thing they made last year is still better than a lot of what’s out there.

So sit back as we wade out into very familiar waters, as we once again talk Marvel.

Enjoy!

Oscar Bowl 2022

Roy is keeping his annual tradition alive, using Super Bowl Sunday as an opportunity to watch as many the years Oscar nominated films as he can. It is always fun hearing his recap and which of the films “won the day”. And it a rare twist, Roy and his wife disagree on the winner! Now you’ll have to listen to see who chose what!

(It was Kira…sorry Roy)

Enjoy!

Best of 2021

We are always a little late to the game when it comes to our “best of” list, but there are a lot of movies we have to wait for in order to properly form our opinions. We try every year to make the show a little more streamlined, keep our opinions a little more concise, try and keep the train on the tracks, and yet here we are, clocking in at just under 3 hours. Why do we even try?

We would love to know what movies topped your lists, and why we shouldn’t have included some of our choices, so please reach out and tell us!

Enjoy!

Psycho Goreman

This is the last episode from our cabin weekend and we are finishing up the “Cabin Chronicles” with arguably the biggest hit of the weekend, Psycho Goreman. To say that those of us who hadn’t seen it were surprised would be an understatement. We strongly encourage anyone with any interest this film to watch it first, because I am not sure that our outbursts about random parts of this film will properly convey how much fun we had watching it.

Enjoy!

Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight

Another weird horror movie can only mean one thing, another episode from our cabin trip. This was actually the last movie we watched that weekend, which is why you may notice that we don’t all make it to the table. The excitement of the weekend made some of us fall asleep almost immediately after we started this gem from the 90’s. We also discover that most movies could be improved by simply adding a little more Billy Zane to the cast. It’s not that difficult.

Enjoy!

Chopping Mall

Killer robots, frisky 20somethings, …the mall. The 80’s really were a magical time to be alive. This absolute treasure was a blast to watch during our cabin weekend, and if this podcast can convince at least one person to watch it who may have never seen it, than all of this will have really been for something.

KILLER ROBOTS…IN THE MALL!

Enjoy!

Cheap Thrills

Here is another episode from our cabin trip, Ryan’s selection, Cheap Thrills. Most of us had never even heard of this one, and that made the viewing experience all the better. This dark, dark, DARK comedy is not for the faint of heart, but we still had a lot of fun watching…most of it.

Enjoy!

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the biggest movie in years, and the first time that going to the theater felt like it did before the pandemic. It is being universally praised by critics and viewers alike, and hey, we loved it too. This week we are spending more than 90 minutes talking about the same movie that everyone else is talking about, but we don’t care, there’s just that much to unpack. So if you don’t mind a spoiler heavy episode, give us a listen.

Enjoy!

Love Hard/8-Bit Christmas

Since Christmas is almost here, we decided to record on two of the more enjoyable entires into the “Christmas movie” genre. The stories may be ones that you know already, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have anything to bring to the table, and Love Hard and 8-Bit Christmas could easily be ones that get added to the annual rotation.

Be safe this holiday season, and we look forward to recording more in 2022…as long as the world is still around.

Enjoy!

Brainscan

Before we post about some holiday films, please enjoy yet another episode from our weekend in the woods. Brainscan was one that may have been better only in memory, but we still had a lot of fun watching it. Plus, there are few things more relaxing than the dulcet tones of Edward Furlong screaming. The only thing better might be our impressions of Edward Furlong screaming.

Enjoy!

Oscar (1991)

We are back with another episode we recorded as part of our “Cabin Chronicles”. This time are we went with the 1991 comedy, Oscar. It had been a long time since any of us had seen this one, and there may have been a little trepidation from some in the crowd. Roy seemed confident that this was still a movie that was still worth watching when he chose it, but we all know that he is the most optimist movie watcher out there. So sit back and listen as we break down our thoughts on this oft requested film.

Enjoy!

Rec

A little while ago the four of us were able to get together for the first time in more than 2 years. We spent a weekend in a cabin in the the woods and all we did was watch movies and record episodes. The episodes from that weekend are affectionately known as The Cabin Chronicles. We took turns picking the movies, and the first one chosen was the 2007 Portuguese film, Rec. Fun fact, watching zombie movies in the middle of the woods definitely ups the creepy factor.

The 300th Episode

Each time we make it to another century mark I am surprised that we are still doing this. I know that it isn’t always easy to make time to watch all of these movies and then find even more time to record these episodes, but I am glad that everyone has been up to the challenge, and these last hundred have certainly thrown many challenges our way. The bulk of the last hundred have been recorded remotely, with only a single episode taking place where we were all physically together. For me personally, having this show to look forward to each week provided a great deal of comfort during the anxiety ridden days of 2020/2021, and for that I will always be grateful.

If you managed to stick around as we worked through all the technical ins and outs of doing this show remotely, and suffered through us talking about Space Camp and 3 Ninjas while new movies were constantly being shelved, then we all thank you very much.

Now to start the next hundred…

Enjoy!

The Shawshank Redemption

Today is Sean’s 40th birthday, and to celebrate we took a little trip and all got together for the first time in a couple of years. We watched a lot of movies, we recorded a lot of episodes, but we wanted something special for his actual birthday, so we gave Sean the option of recording about anything he wanted, and he chose his all time favorite, The Shawshank Redemption.

Watching movies is great, but sharing this experience with the other guys on the show has been an absolute pleasure.

Enjoy!

Tales From the Hood

We just can’t quit talking about horror movies, though this one surprised us. We all seemed to remember what this movie was about, but it definitely hit harder for us this time around. I know the movie didn’t change, but we certainly have since this movie was released in the 90’s. Plenty to talk about before we take a break from horror for a minute. Before you know it we will be gearing for another Hallmark Christmas episode. Enjoy!

The Night House

Yeah, we know that October is over, and most podcasts are probably moving onto those very well know Thanksgiving movies, but we watched a lot of horror last month, and that means you get more horror episodes, and run on sentences. The Night House is the movie that brought Ryan back to the theaters after being closed for so long. Did it do justice to such a notable honor? Just listen and find out.

Enjoy!

Don't Breathe/Don't Breathe 2

Here is a nice double feature to keep our October movies going. Maybe they aren’t technically “horror”, but there are still plenty of jumps and scares, so we are adding it to the list. There are a lot of weird choices they make in this series, and we like some and hate others, as characters and their motivations seem to change a lot . We hope everyone has a great Halloween, and that you are watching only the best scary movies to stay in the mood.

Enjoy!
