Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3

The time may finally be upon us where we are just getting a little too exhausted by all the comic book movies. Is it that it is all too much, or has the quality of the content just been getting worse and worse. Could be a little but of column A and a bit of column B. Still, that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to watch what comes out and record about it for you, our dear dear friends.

Dungeons & Dragons and so much more!

This week we are talking about the new fantasy/action/comedy, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, but we don’t stop there. It has been awhile since we all recorded, so we went ahead and played catch-up on all the things we’ve been watching the last month. I don’t like to rate our episodes, but this one is solid. Let’s be honest, sometime we are phoning it in, but we all really brought our “A” game for this one.

Sherlock Jr.

This week we are reviewing our first silent film on COtR, Sherlock Jr. When this film was requested there may have been a little bit of trepidation because a nearly 100 year old film isn’t really in our wheelhouse, but when we saw that beautiful 45 min runtime, we were all in. There may have been varying degrees of enjoyment from the group, but each of us were still entertained. Turns out, Buster Keaton, pretty good a what he does.

Enjoy!

Blue Ruin

This week we finally around to one of our listener request episodes, Blue Ruin. There aren’t many movies that can unite the four of us in our opinions, and it is very possible that this film was not up to the task. Just listen to the episode, if you want to know how each of us came down on this one.

Enjoy!

The Final Girls

This is the last of our episodes from the “Cabin Chronicles II”, and it watching The Final Girls was one of the high points of the weekend. A tongue-in-cheek send up of slasher movies that avoids many of the cynical pitfalls that a lot of parody movies fall into. An excellent movie to watch with a group of friends.

Enjoy!

Scream 6

This week is a very special episode with a very special guest. A huge thanks to Ryan L. Terry for immediately elevating the quality of our show. Truth be told, he is definitely too smart to be clowning around with us, but we appreciate him bringing his mad knowledge and love of the slasher genre as we discuss Scream 6. There isn’t a good way to write the title out the way the marketing team wanted, where we turn the “M” into a “VI”. Even trying to explain seems silly, but the this episode is top shelf.

Enjoy!

Creed III

This week we are talking about the abs heavy film, Creed III. But more importantly, this is or 365th episode of the show, which mean you can now make it a whole year where you could listen to us everyday, and not repeat. Not next year, because that Leap Year nonsense, but most normal years. Anyway…Creed!

Enjoy!

Everything Everywhere All at Once

In honor of the monumental win for Everything Everywhere All at Once at this year’s Academy Awards, we are just replaying our episode that we recorded earlier in the year. There aren’t many times when the movie we loved the most gets all the attention we think it deserved, but this was one of those times.

Congratulations to EEAAO!!!!

Enjoy!

Cocaine Bear

This week we are talking about the new movie, Cocaine Bear. This movie, “inspired” by real events, has already become a bonafide hit, but is it good, or just a story so bizarre that people had to see what it was all about? You know we don’t always agree, so I guess you should listen to see where we land.

Enjoy!

Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania

2022 was kind of a rough year for comic book movies with several of them showing up on our “Worst of" lists. Can this trend be turned around this year? If Marvels first film of the year, Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania, is any indication, then we still can’t answer this question. There are plenty of things to like in the MCU’s latest go, but just as many things seems to come up short. In that way it’s a lot like this podcast.

Enjoy!

OscarBowl 2023

Every year Roy and Kira spend all of Super Bowl Sunday marathoning several Oscar nominated films. The line up this year was The Banshees of Inisherin, The Triangle of Sadness, Empire of Light, and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. Lots of highs and lows, and some very unwelcome themes for the day, but maybe more enjoyable that watching a football game.

Enjoy!

Best of 2022

Another year of movies in the book and another episode where we reflect on what we thought were the best movies of 2022. We know that everyone won’t agree with us, we rarely completely agree with each other, but between the four of us, there us surely some common ground out there. Plus there were some legitimate surprises this year, and that’s always entertaining.

Enjoy!

Airheads

This week we head back to the woods with one of the films we watch during the Cabin Chronicles. We use the word “film" because “movie” just doesn’t seem to carry the same weight, especially when speaking about Airheads. It was pretty apparent early on that Brendan Fraser was destined to be nominated for an Oscar, and while we are happy for his recognition in The Whale, some might say this was an even more powerful performance.

Enjoy!

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

Here is another fine episode from the “Cabin Chronicles” series. While Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan isn’t a ver good movie, the episode that movie spawned is pretty solid. Plus it was late, and we were all a little loopy, so you know that helps. Maybe next time we will let people outside the show pick all the movies.

Enjoy!

Moonfall

We are a couple of weeks into the new year, and that means we are all scrambling to watch all the 2022 movies we missed in order to make out “Best and Worst” lists. Hey, speaking of the worst movies of last year, here is our episode on Moonfall. Now we aren’t saying that this movie will definitely be on someone’s list for the worst movies last year, but this movie will almost certainly be on one of those lists.

Enjoy!
