The Wrong Missy and The Lovebirds

This week we discuss two Netflix movies, The Wrong Missy and The Lovebirds. In a time where original content is scarce, these two movies have been very popular, but do we share in that excitement? I mean, you kind of have to listen to the show to find out…that’s kind of the whole point of this. We also talk about why comedies can be an especially polarizing genre, and what movie theaters will look like going forward. We’re all over the map this week.

Enjoy!

More Quarantine Movies!

Another week of not seeing the outside world means another week of whatever random stuff we decide to watch. This week we have two Kings on the show, and we are definitely better for it. Roy & Kira King tell us all about their stay-at-home marathon day, and the kinds of movies that like to make the other watch. There’s a little something for everyone in this episode. Action, horror, drama, comedy, science fiction,…er…Animal Crossing. I’m just saying, we covered all our bases.

Enjoy!

The Half of It and quarantine catchup

This week we discuss the new Netflix comedy, The Half of It along with all the other stuff we’ve been watching lately. We try not to spoil anything, so even if you haven’t seen what we are talking about, you’ll still be alright to watch this one. Time is slipping away from us now. Things are getting so bad that Sean is thinking about doing a full watch of The Simpsons. He may never be able to watch a movie again after that commitment.

Extraction

Some movies come along at a perfect time in our collective lives and manage to make things 1% better for awhile. Extraction could have just been lost in the mix of the seemingly endless supply of Netflix content, but when there are no new movies being released, this basic premise, Chris Hemsworth action flick becomes so much more. We are also joined by a very special guest this week, and though she didn’t seem to appreciate how the rest of us are all built like fat Thor, we still had a blast recording this episode. I hope everyone continues to stay safe out there.

Enjoy!

Fantasy Island

This week we talk about the Blumhouse horror film, Fantasy Island. This quickly becomes a debate about whether this movie is bad, good bad, or just good. If you’ve listened to the show, you can probably guess who comes down where. We also briefly discuss The Rhythm Section and other movies and shows we’ve been watching while stuck in our homes. I hope everyone is staying safe out there.

Enjoy!

Favorite Fight Scenes

This week we decided that recording remotely was getting to be too easy, so we also through in the 3 hour time difference with our guest, just to make scheduling a little more fun. Theme for this east coast/west coast crossover? Favorite fight scenes…or best fight scenes…just kind of depends on what criteria you use to build your list. Since we are still playing by quarantine rules, there are no rules, and you can make your list however you want. Should we give you a list of 5 each? You bet? Should we also ramble on after about other things we wanted on the list? Oh, you know it! We all basically turned into Roy, and bent the rules to whatever we want. We hope you’re staying safe out there.

Enjoy!

Tiger King

Yeah, I know this isn’t a movie, but since we are all stuck inside, and somehow everyone in the world has watched this “documentary”, we decided to do an episode on it. Is it good? Is it awful? Does it make you want to scrub your eyes out with disinfectant after? Can all those answers be “yes”? These are the questions we wrestled with on this week’s episode of COTR.

Enjoy!

The Hunt

Look, I know that everything is kind of awful right now, and it is pretty much impossible to look anywhere without seeing something that breaks out heart. I don’t really have a solution to those problems, but maybe listening to nerds talk about a movie that you maybe haven’t seen is just the kind of distraction you need from the constant barrage of awful that we all seem to be taking. This week we talk about The Hunt and some of the movies we’ve been watching together online as we all try our best to stay away from pretty much everything. I hope everyone is staying safe, and if you have any movies you’d like us to do an episode on, please just let us know.

Enjoy!

The Invisible Man

This week we struggle through some technical difficulties to bring you a new episode while we are all on lockdown. We discuss The Invisible Man and a couple of our attempts to do a movie night with Kast. I know that everyone is getting a little stir crazy out there, and while this show may not help you cope with everything that is going on, it is helping us. So thanks for listening to us try and find some catharsis while the world burns.

Enjoy!

Rainy Day Movies ( Our Quarantine Picks )

With everyone stuck inside, hopefully practicing social isolation, we thought we do a rainy day episode. These our some of our favorite go to movies when you are stuck inside and avoiding the world. If you’ve been stuck indoors watching movies, and have ever wanted to be on a podcast, send me a message, and I will try and dial you in, and you can tell us what you’ve been watching. It’s not like you have anything better to be doing. Take care of yourselves, and each other.

Enjoy!

To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You

This week we are discussing the Netflix sequel, To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. We were lucky enough to have Kaitlin join us for this episode, as we really break down the goods and beds of this teen romantic comedy. We really got into this much more than I was expecting, so please let us know if you agree or disagree with any of thoughts. We’s also like to know if you are “Team Peter” or “Team John”.

Enjoy!

Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn

This week we try to understand what was going on in the latest DC film, Birds of Prey. The reviews were good, and I know several people who really liked it, and DC is on about as good a roll as they’ve been on lately, so this should have been a slam dunk at the box office. So what went wrong? I don’t know that we actually come up with any answers to that question, but we still talk about it a lot. I definitely believe that there are people who will disagree with us, but we would love to hear why. We are always open to other people’s opinions.

Oscars and Oscarbowl 2019

This week we discuss our feelings about the Academy Awards for this year. And because they moved the Oscars up so much this year, we will also be discussing Roy's annual tradition of Oscarbowl Sunday, where he forgoes all the trappings of the Super Bowl, and catches up on award films instead. What did you think of the Oscars this year? Were you happy about Parasite cleaning up in the major categories? Were you annoyed by any of the speeches or presenters? Let us know!

The Best and Worst of 2019

It’s that time of year, when everyone is making their lists, and the Academy is about to announce their pick for Best Picture of the year. But before all that pomp and circumstance, we thought we would offer you our favorite movies of 2019, and a few movies that we thought were pretty terrible. As a special treat, we are all four actually together, at one table, for this episode. So sit back, relax, and enjoy almost 3 hours of us talking nonsense.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Well this one took awhile to make happen, but here is our episode about the newest Star Wars movie. We agree about a lot things, and disagree about a whole lot more. So if you loved The Rise of Skywalker, there will be something in this episode for you. If you hated the final installment in the Skywalker saga, there will also be plenty of things for you to hang your hat on.

What did you think of the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? I know that we ask that a lot, but I really want to know how everyone came down on this one.

Enjoy!

Most Anticipated Movies of 2020

We planned to have this show up earlier in the year, but you know what they say about the best laid plans. This week we talk about the movies coming out in 2020 that we are most excited about, but because we are who we are, we also talk about a lot of other nonsense as well. Hopefully when we get to the end of 2020, all of these movies live up to our expectations, but that seems unlikely…looking at you Bill & Ted. What are you looking forward to this year?

Oscar nominations 2020

It’s still been a little difficult getting back into the swing of things in 2020, but finally this week we were able to record our first new episode of the new year. To kick things off, we discussed the recently announced Oscar nominations. So join us this week, and we talk about what we agree with, and Drew talks about how let down he is by the success of the Joker.

Enjoy!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Replay)

Due to an awful case of the flu, we have been unable to to record for awhile. I didn’t want to have two weeks go by without posting a show, so here is our episode from a couple of years ago about The Last Jedi. We will be recording our episode for The Rise of Skywalker as soon as I can go more than 30 seconds without coughing violently.

Enjoy!

Noelle

Merry Christmas! We know that some of you are traveling for the holidays, and maybe you want to listen to some nerds talk about Christmas movies while you wait for your luggage at the airport. Don't worry, we got you. This week we continue with our run of holiday cheer as we discuss the Disney+ original, Noelle, along with Netflix originals Let it Snow and Santa Girl. These movies just go to show you that Hallmark isn’t the only game in town when it comes to completely cheesy, shot in 2 weeks, barely a movie, entertainment.

Enjoy!
